Norberto Martin

Academy Instructor, Hitting-Defensive Skills

Norberto Martin played as a shortstop, second baseman, and outfielder in the MLB with the Chicago White Sox, Anaheim Angels, Toronto Blue Jays, and Milwaukee Brewers. He hit over .300 three times in the major leagues in 1993, 1996, and 1997 and had the second best batting average in the National League (.350) in 1996, just behind Alex Rodriguez. In 1993, he was voted the best defensive second baseman in the league by Baseball America and was also the MVP of the Nashville Sounds (Triple A affiliate of the White Sox). He shares MLB records in the outfield with a 1.000 fielding percentage over 6 Major League seasons. Norberto is also the all-time international triple-A leader in hits with 179, surpassing Buck Showalter, a record that still stands today.

Prior to his time at Grand Slam USA, Norberto was a baseball instructor for 7-18 year olds at Academy of Pro-Players in Garfield, NJ. He taught both individual and group sessions on baseball fundamentals and advanced skills for hitting and fielding.
