Carl M. Poe received his Master’s Degree in Exercise Science in 1991 from Appalachian State University. He then served as an intern designing strength & conditioning programs for athletes at the United States Olympic Training Center, Colorado Springs, Colorado. Carl also worked as a Sport Physiology Research Assistant for the USOTC assisting with physical performance testing and evaluations of elite athletes. He was responsible for Strength, Power and Conditioning programs for summer and Winter Olympic athletes for the Barcelona and Albertville Olympic Games.
Mr. Poe has been responsible for strength & conditioning program design and implementation for developmental, junior elite, elite and professional athletes in many athletic populations including: Basketball, Baseball, Football, Volleyball, Track and Field, Soccer, Lacrosse, Hockey, Swimming, and Motor Sports/Drivers and Pit Crew. He has developed and implemented Periodized-training programs for sport athletes for over twenty five years. Carl competed in Basketball and Baseball while at CE Jordan High School in Durham, and was a Scholarship Baseball player at the UNC at Pembroke. He and his family relocated from Chicago, IL to the Raleigh Durham area in June 2007. He is currently Director of Sports Performance Strength, Power and Speed Training at Grand Slam USA, Raleigh, NC.
Mr. Poe is a Member of the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA), Basketball Strength Coaches Special Interest Group, and is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA.
